Saturday, June 16th- Day 2
Pinch me... I can't believe this is really happening, we are really riding to Alaska. We met some great folks at the Best Western. Rick and Annie in the MX5, motorcyclists from Ohio, but cheating in a Miata convertible.
Also, Kcurt (t-r-u-c-k backwards) who was riding a BMW K1200GT. He was heading to Provo with friends, retired and ditching his honey-do list that was two pages long.
After our "Daily Bread" and "Many Roads One Path" devotions, we suited up at 8:45 and headed up the Pony Express Hwy 93 to Wells, NV. What a beautiful day, 65-91degrees with blue skies and some high clouds. Clear roads, of course, no traffic with the exception a 15 minute stop for construction. A nice break from the high speed two lane roads of N. Nevada.
In Twin Falls, ID we stopped at the "Niagra Falls of the West" Shoshone Falls. A must stop if you are in the area
Our.destination for Day 2 was Louie and Donna Silver's home in Star, ID. Greeted with an open two car garage for parking and two guest rooms, definitely beats the Hilton Garden in Eagle. The Silvers are great friends from Lake Arrowhead who migrated to Idaho. Our dinner on the back patio was incredible! We will take a home cooked meal anyday. 3-1/2 weeks eating out can get old. (how do I know?, never done that). Anyway, day 2 was a beaut and the evening was even better. Fun, fellowship, and 5 star hospitality!
Day 2 Stats: 54.1 avg mph, 64.9 moving average, max speed 96.4. (oops maybe I shouldn't tell)
